Accident not reported

I had an incident about 3 months ago where a wheel came off my van and and hit another food distributers van a glance on his drivers door.

It was very early on a dark wet morning and the other driver got out and I gave him my insurance details while and contact details while trying to get everything back together and he said that there seemed to be minimum damage and he would get his fleet manager to contact me later on in the day.

His manager phoned me later on and said the van wasn't back yet but understood it wasn't much and I said to him that I would probably cover it myself if the bill was fairly ok(€600ish or less).

Had not heard anything for 3 months and I thought that it was all finished with as there was little damage but got a phone call the other day from their insurers with a bill for €2,200 bill.

My problem now is I foolishly never notified my insurer first day(I know!).
Any advice on how this is going to play out with them now when I go to them.
The insurance is with Zurich through a broker.

Did you take any photos? It seems from your (and the van driver's) description that the damage was minimal!

Thanks for the reply,No,was to busy picking up debris from my hub of the road before there was any more damage done to be honest and he was in a hurrey.

Really,I am not disputing their bill as it was new and fully signwritten or wrapped but I am wondering will my insurance company stand by the bill seeing as I am only contacting them now.

Have phoned my brokers and explained and she said she is going to get their (brokers)claims dept to phone me before going to Zurich but that was a good few days ago.

Report it now. You'll find out their stance quickly enough.
