Main dealer/garage that will verify chassis number?

Long story short, the girlfriend bought a Yaris, vlc signed and went to post box with him. Shannon hasn't received it (3 weeks now) and the previous owner has emigrated to Australia. Have the form needed to get the ownership changed and appointment with solicitor for him to sign.

But one section requires a main dealer to sign off that the chassis number belongs to the car. Have called a few main dealers around Dublin but none of them say they can do it.

Anybody got this done before? Or know of somewhere that can verify the chassis? Also does it cost much for them to check?

    Thanks.

Have you approached Toyota HQ themselves? I'd imagine its a fairly common occurrence.

First port of call. They just asked for my address and provided me dealers in my surrounding area.

I've continued calling. It seems it's something a lot of places used to do no problem. But a few have explained that they don't do it any more as they don't want to risk standing behind signing off that the vehicle is 100 legit.

What does this even mean? That the chassis number belongs to the car?

Do you mean that they want to ensure that the chassis number on the car matches whats on the log book?

Form says that the chassis number needs to be verified as matching the registration plate.

Doesn't MotorCheck et al provide this information?

Yeah but unfortunately needs to be signed and stamped.Tax is out and don't want extra hassle of sending a report from motorcheck off with the affidavit and creating more delays if not accepted.

Ah i'm sure i'll find some main dealer that will do it. Don't really see it as a huge risk for them. Not as if they're categorically stating that it isn't stolen. Just that the chassis number matches the plates when they checked.

Possibly Applus ( the VRT crowd ) as they have to verify a chassis number before they issue plates might have a facility/link somewhere?

Just turn up at a dealer, doesn't even have to be a toyota dealer. Just a garage that sells new cars AFAIK
