Press conference today announcing phase 2 of their "always getting better" programme.

Thought it was worth mentioning the highlights:

Boeing Sky Interior plus slimline seats on new deliveries for Ryanair by year end.

Preorder hot breakfast for early morning flights plus €5 farelock for 24 hours (Now where have I noticed this before...) by year end.

Other misc things announced today also include new crew uniforms, cutting of various fees including introducing the possibility of cancelling a flight within 24 hours of booking for €15.

The most interesting development of all is that from June RYR site will display fares from other carriers for the same route.

Seriously never understood the point of them plastic backings. How was it not cheaper to stick the bit of paper onto the seat.

The yellow interior is just to remind you that you can't afford Aer Lingus.

First look at the new interior:

Can't say I'm crazy about it, they've managed to sneak some yellow in there and the photos of holidaying people is pretty cheesy.

That's a bit cheeky; they already need to have that functionality implemented for Denmark ( and some other EU countries I think ) that apply distance-selling cooling-off periods to the purchase flights.

So they're just setting a country-specific flag to state whether to charge for it or not...

God the photos are awfully tacky for me personally..I'd feel like I'm with a package holiday not sure why that bugs me so much but there you go. The yellow strips also look crap. But then I wasn't too bothered about the yellow before...I tend to do more looking out the window :D

Looks like someone just took the BSI stock image and added some colour and images in photoshop.

Well if that's how they will look as mixed as I am like it. It looks fresh modern and business like which would be nice

The yellow stripe really shows that they can't *quite* let go of the past, yet.

Who created those photos? Was it the Indo? Every photo shows something different. One with the sky interior, one with the old interior with added pictures on the bulkhead. One with the yellow stripe and another without. I think this is all just guesswork for now. Certainly the sky interior with less yellow will be a big improvement. I hope the seats aren't too thin and cheap though. That could really spoil it.

You beat me to it IngazZagni! Al those photos show different interiors.

Have to say the Qantas 737s i've been in with the new interiors are lovely, but the slimline seats Ryanair are offering may prove painful on the auld behind, they're certainly not for the passengers comfort, more for saving weight/fuel. I bet there won't be a legroom gain.

Are they not putting the pictures on the bulkheads in the current fleet first? They say that this will be done from March, but the first sky interior planes aren't due until January 2016.

I honest don't care about what the interior looks like. Has anyone else noticed that fare prices are rising? I fly with Ryanair about 10 times a year mostly Dublin to Berlin. It crazy that even if i book 1 month in advance the fare can be 120 euro both ways for a 2 and a half hour flight?! other airlines such as wizzair charge 15 euro for 2 and a half hour flights.

Its crazy that you are unaware that forward booking is essential to nab the headline fares from the airlines............

First flight for me with the new sky interior and new uniforms , big improvement very smart , clean and a much nicer environment to spend an hour , not much cushion in the seats . Still yellow on the back of the seats.
Lingus 320 still a nicer cabin imo.

Yep, DUB based crews all wearing them this morning.

I was disappointed to see Ryanair cabin crew in their new uniforms still having to wear high vis vests over their extremely high vis and smart looking uniform jackets. I thought the whole point with the bright yellow jackets was to negate the necessity to throw on the high vis vests. The vests ruin the smartness of the new uniform jackets.

Hi Vis vests meet a standard such as EN471 for visibility in day or night, so unless the new uniforms were designed to meet that standard, then they wouldn't meet the requirements of safety clothing on an active apron.

How many planes are there out there with the new interior in and starting with which registration?

I've been on a few with the pictures stuck over the bulkheads but not been on any that have had any other adjustments yet, seem to be unlucky with that, twice I've been on the last flight of the evening and the DUB crew have done the outbound leg in an EI-Fxx plane and swapped planes and returned on a EI-Dxx.

Guess they're rotating planes around a lot.

Flew on EI-FOC to MAD this morning. FOC was delivered on the 26th Jan, and has the new Sky interior. No signage on the bins which were white. New seats comfortable enough, shorter arm rests than usual though.

Didn't get a full view of the front bulkhead, but from what I saw it wasn't too intrusive. Overall, the new interior along with the smart new uniforms makes it look a lot more professional.

I could be wrong but I think EI-FOC was the first one with the Sky Interior

EI-FIY was delivered with slimline seats, but no sky interior

Seems to be pot luck what aircraft they have changed the bulkhead pictures, I was on EI-EF*/EB* series recently and they had new pictures but EI-FI* series did not

I was flying back from CRL last night and saw that FIV was operating DUB-CRL but it was replaced by DHX for the trip back to Dublin.

Looking at FR24 that seems par foe the course though, whenever FR46/FR47 operates late in the evening the later always gets a different bird.

With the bulkheads it's random, I've been on two with, two without, the two with were both DH* series, but the late E** ones didn't.

Was on EI-FOC last week, my first experience of the new interior and uniforms. Uniforms are very smart overall particularly the ladies shirts/blouse which have a nice trim on them

Sky interior is ok....I've seen it on Southwest in the US and it seems better though. Possibly as I think it was divided into two ovals in the ceiling rather than one continuous.

Seats...I wasn't impressed. They look even cheaper than the old ones. Comfort wise they were ok for a short flight, but I think they look terrible. Thin and angular, rather than nice and curved like some of the other have. Does the job I suppose!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,776 ✭✭✭Jhcx

Why the yellow plate backs though. i Cant for the life of me wrap my had around spending 30 cent extra on plastic that doesnt even need to be there. just pure tacky. i suppose they just want to remind people they paid 1cent for their flight heres something ugly to look at for the next 40 minutes.

Was on a city break to Madrid on the last few days and was lucky enough to fly out on EI-FOO on Thursday morning and back on EI-FOM last night.

Not sure on the new seats, leg room is clearly better but not sure on the comfort. It was okay for the two hour flights we were on but not sure how great they'd be for anything much longer.

As for the sky interior, i thought it was nice when the cabin lights were dimmed for take off and landing.

The seats are light and low maintenance by the look of em so win win for the operator. They're not the comfiest but adequate for short haul flights. The plastic backs are easy clean and have no magazine holders to get ripped or hold rubbish. Leather seats easy wipe clean and don't soak through if they get wet, again all good for time saving and maintenance costs.

I don't know what it is about Berlin, but the last three times I flew there, Aer Lingus were substantially cheaper than Ryanair.

I think people forget about lingus sometimes and just book ryanair expecting them to be cheapest

Without going too far off topic, not sure how long since the times you flew there but EI moved from SXF to TXL as off last October, which I would have thought was to raise yields that were presumably hammered by Ryanair, seeing as TXL is much more centrally located (And SXF isn't the nicest airport in my opinion..)

Flew on EI FON this evening. Amazing how un-creaky a new aircraft is. Not a rattle. Like the new interiors by the way. Don't know if the seats would be the best on a longer flight but just fine from Birmingham to Dublin. Seems like there's a touch more leg room with the slimmer backrest. Maybe I just imagined it.
