I was wondering has anyone ever had this problem, when the hot tap in the kitchen is turned on it does the usual gradually getting hot and very hot just for a few seconds then the tempreture falls to barely luke warm, I let it run for 5 mins several times to see if it would get hot again but it wont until I run the hot tap in the bathroom then it returns to very hot. The system is fed of solid fuel cooker with a cylinder upstairs.

No its on the kitchen sink no thermostatic valve fitted. The problem seems to have started after I got the cylinder replaced.
    Thanks for the reply.

Climb up into your attic and check that the expansion pipe is well above the height of the water level in the tank.

Maybe the cold is passing into the hot somehow
Turn off the mains water. Then run the hot and see if it happens
