You know those trips -guided tours- that are advertised in the papers, for example Pompeii, Capri, Naplles, or Dubrovnik, Dalmata & Montenegro.
There are a few for various parts of Italy and Spain and other European countries.
Has anyone gone on them? Would you get a feel for the places, eat local food etc?
Are they to be recommended. The idea of just paying over the money and leaving the decisions to someone else, not having to hire a car and everything is very enticing

Friend of mine in his early 40s has gone with the Travel Department several times and says they're excellent. Good food, hotels and excurisions and a good price. Big enough groups so you can ignore the annoying people and free time to do your own stuff.

Wouldn't be my cup of tea but they seem very popular and a good way to go on holidays on your own but have some company for evening meals etc.
