I would have thought this thread would be a few pages by now. Kinda depressing.

Well only the older generation would remember him one of football's hard men, but earned huge respect of team mates and opponents alike.

By all accounts he really was a legend at both Hearts and Spurs, and then went on to win more stuff as a manager.

    RIP.

A lot of today's premiership followers probably never heard of him!

A Hearts legend who also played for Tottenham and Derby County dies, to be more precise.

“Just to get near Tynecastle was a dream. I was a Hearts fan all my life; I used to walk the three miles to Tynecastle, go early to get under the turnstile because I couldn’t afford to get in. So when Hearts came along to sign me, I couldn’t believe it.

“For as long as I can remember all I wanted in my life, nothing else, was to play for Hearts, which is my dream team. And to play for Scotland. I had no ambition for anything else; always Hearts.”

He was at the core of the greatest Hearts team ever to play the game.

He didn't really like that picture, by the way. He felt it didn't reflect accurately on him.

    May he rest in peace.
