Kindness week in a secondary school

    Hi there.

I'm hoping to run a kindness week in my school perhaps after Easter.

I primarily teach Junior years but would like to make it a school wide activity.

I'm just wondering if anyone has done something like this in their school - I'm looking for ideas.

So far this is what I have come up with from research

    - make a kindness notice board or tree where students put up post its of acts of kindness they have done or else positive messages

-we could help a local charity - unsure yet which one. I have seen a wrapped in love one where you knit things for sick babies.

    - we could go visit the local nursing home (done in previous years where music students go and do a bit of a ceili and sing song - residents there love it and they play cards etc with them)

In home ec they could do a kindness cookie day and give out cookies or goodies to students.

I welcome any suggestions ye have.

Maybe try some fun sizes in people's lockers/pigeon holes/desks before class?

Go round to classes with compliments in a jar and get people to pick one out and read it to someone else?

There's a lovely app called happiness - I downloaded it ages ago and it's full of lovely positive messages. You could hook it up to play on loop to a TV monitor in the canteen
