Is this sleep walking? Should I be worried?

I have woken up a few times feeling quite scared, my hand was numb and once or twice was hovering over my face. It was weird but I went back asleep.

Last night however i got out of bed (I don't remember this) and turned the light on, and my legs felt completely numb. My arm was also numb and was held out in front of my face. I walked to the mirror and stared wide eyed at myself in terror, my heart was racing. My boyfriend was shocked and confused, I was too, it was terrifying.

Has anyone else experienced this? I'm a little worried about it.

You poor thing, sounds terrifying. There are any number of reasons why you could be experiencing night terrors ( anything from stress/anxiety to a side effect of certain medications, especially psychotropic ones) so you should go and speak to your GP first and foremost to discuss and investigate further.

I think you were asleep, or most of your body was asleep. I'd put the numbness of your limbs totally down to them being asleep, or dead - i.e. you've been sleeping on your leg and with blood flow having been restricted - is making your leg numb.

I've once or twice woken up pretty much paralysed. Awake, but unable to move. I put your terror down to your mind being mostlly awake but not having full control of your mostly asleep body. I think you're terrified because you don't know the probably harmless explanation behind it - not that I do, of course. But it is likely a natural, normal, weird human behaviour. Hopefully somebody else can offer a less all-over-the-shop response than mine.

Thanks a million for the responses.

In terms of going to the GP, this did cross my mind but I wasn't sure it's really an issue for the GP, is it?
