Leather Seats

I've been looking a while now to change the car, but really want to get one with leather seats. Usually when I find one with the seats it has poor mileage or is well outside the budget, whereas the ones with decent mileage and price are closer to the budget but don't have the leather seats.

Can anyone tell me if its possible to get leather seat conversion done and if so, where to go? Does this usually work well or does it look like a conversion job? Any idea of price (I know the price will differ from car to car, probably looking at a 3 series BMW or newer Avensis, or something along that size).

    Cheers,
    Dave

The cost of a conversion will just make it not a feasible option in my opinion. What cars are you looking at?

What kind of car are you looking for?

You could buy a car with cloth and find some leather seats in a scrap yard. There are companies that make leather seat covers but they always, always look utterly ****

You mentioned a 3 series in your post, leather for them can be got fairly reasonably I know a mate of mine gave €290 for leather and door cards for E46 coupe, more modern the car the more costly the interior unless its a unpopular model. A retrim of the original seats would be v expensive id say,

This is almost always the best option.

thanks for all the quick responses everyone. I was thinking that this would be an expensive business all right, just getting a bit impatient at waiting for the perfect car to come along so thought I'd ask. Will look into the scrap yard option too.

    Cheers

Nolan's Auto Care in Dublin do a good job re-trimming leather, alot of the dealers use them as their work is nearly like a factory fit, but as said the job ain't cheap. However when it comes to retrofitting leather, you really do get what you pay for.
