My male flat mate ,knowing I had never read it,gave me 50 shades of grey as a present. We spend a lot of time together and are close in ways, he is very supportive of me in my hobbies and life in general.... Should I read anything into this ,or should I just take it at face value? I'm confused !

It's a popular book and for sale absolutely everywhere, from upmarket bookstores to your local Tescos, the movie of which happens to be in the cinema at the moment. So unless you have something else to work with, I'd read no more into it than he was either given it or picked it up somewhere, and though you might want a read of it, considering its popularity at the moment.
