What are best sheets/bed linen

I need some new bedlinen for superking bed - I dont want to spend silly amounts on sheridan etc but I do like nice sheets. I dont do ironing so wondering if anyone has bought good quality sheets which didnt need ironing and didnt cost too much - what is the ideal threadcount and makeup?
