How long does JA stay in the Post Office for?

Been offered a 3 Day Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act course next week covering from Monday to Wednesday 9:30am to 4pm.

Trouble is I normally get my JA of a Tuesday but I'll not be back in time (5:30pm) on any of the days and to nominate an agent I'd probably have to get a form signed by the Dole Office but they're shut now until well..........

I've been pro-active in getting on this course (I.e. There's no compunction on me to do so) and the woman in the DSP I rang today said because I'm on the course I'm unavailable for work; I've told her if a job offer comes in I'll leave the course immediately no matter how impractical that sounds but I had to say something to placate her.

Similarly now if I didn't/don't do the course, now that they know I've been offered it, they may well cut me off if on the balance of probabilities I didn't take chance that I wouldn't be able get my weekly payment.

I've been doing a FETAC Level V Occupational First Aid and Defibrillation course the last 5 weeks too, twice a week, two nights, Monday/Wednesday from 6:30pm-9:30pm but perhaps it's because this is through FAS/Intreo/Solas etc. and is part-time they haven't argued the toss?

Similarly in April I'll be starting an ECDL Course, the duration, days, times etc. I'm unaware of yet but again it's through the Dole Office effectively.

Suggestions and advice appreciated please; thanks.

Your JA will be in the post office until close of business on Friday. I worked in DSP before.

unavaible for work means they might dock you 3 days dole from 6. half pay for duration of the course. no flex with this crowd.
