    Hi there
We are currently applying for an extension on to our house and the engineer reckons wel have to do a percolation test and I don't think it will pass so just wondering the average price to replace the whole system and has anyone done it? The garden has a lot of springs around the garden so hopefully fitting a new one won't be too hard. Any advice welcome. Thanks for your help.

How big is the extension? Some local authorities will allow extensions with two additional bedrooms or less without forcing you to upgrade the septic tank system as long as the existing system dosent appear to be faulty. If you do get a site suitability assessment done, it may require total upgrade of both septic tank and percolation area with treatment plant and polishing filter which could cost €10-15k

It's going to be like a granny flat so will be quite big €10-15k is around what I was expected just hope it won't go over the €20k mark just trying to get some info on it as we have our pre planning meeting next week. Our engineer told us we will more than likely have to change our septic tank so we want to be prepared, thanks a lot
