I have noticed some car dealers blank out car registrations on their sites. Why would this be? To stop somone getting a report from motorcheck?

    Yeah, In some cases.
Could also be on uk plates,, or it could just be policy of the dealers, bmw dealers for example.

The big main dealers tend to just put their display plate on them for the photos. I'd say it's probably a case of them being a bit paranoid about registrations being cloned easily, same as a private seller really.

A quick enquiry to the dealer in question and they will give you the reg to do a car check. To be honest, I'd already be asking the dealer about the car (including the reg) before just running car checks on random cars that catch my eye on the internet, that practice could end up very expensive.

I was selling a car before. Got a call from the guards saying was the car stolen as it was involved in a robbery. Said no was out on the drive apparently it's very common that people go to these websites and clone the plates for their own. They Use tolls and drive off from petrol stations etc
