Help me choose alt to Nexus 7

So, it appears no shop in Dublin stocks the N7 anymore. I don't make significant purchases online anymore.

So, I'd like to buy an android tablet for less than 300e. Something with no restrictions on what I can install. A decent display would be nice and a minimum 16GB hard drive. If it's not sluggish that would be great.

Any recommendations? What should I avoid?

    Thanks.

Samsung Tab 4 8" is around €229 (16gb - Argos) and although not quite as good as the Nexus, a decent tablet.

Elara have 16gb Nexus in stock for €244, and you can collect in person from Park West Industrial Estate.

    Free delivery...

So you want a shop on, or close to, the DART line that stocks Nexus 7?

Anywhere in DCC, and like I said in the thread title, I'm looking for alternatives to the Nexus 7.

OK, this is probably making life more difficult for yourself though.

Back in the day we used to just hop on the bus into town and wander around the shops, see what was available. :D

Argos, Arnotts, PC World all stock tablets, all located on one street.

    I'm simply looking for alternatives.

I feel the need to add. Alternatives to the N7.

Yeah, I find salespeople tend to always see you right and not sell you any old thing.

The Asus tablets are OK, on budget, and in shops. Samsung too, but the Nexus is better.

Don't bother with Amazon tablets, they have their own app market, not the Google one.

    /end

Argos have Nexus 7 16GB in stock in a few Dublin outlets.

I was thinking Asus myself, since they make the N7. Thanks for your help.

I've had the Asus MemoPad 7", and it is a nice tablet but I did have battery issues and a warranty return (3 weeks). They can also suffer from a ribbon cable coming loose making the screen unresponsive in bands down the full length of it. Apart from these problems, a decent tablet. No idea about the newer 8" job.

Samsungs (Tab 3 and Tab 4) are very well built and have great screens, but the specs tend to be a little behind, and the Samsung software can make them feel a little sluggish sometimes.

    Win.

I'd go for this option, no question (order in Jervis).
