    Hi,
looking to buy one of these, both estates, diesel, automatic and high spec.
Audi, the new shape, so 2011/12 and Superb not sure yet if the pre facelift or post. Not sure if its worth to pay more for post FL.

Especially A6 is very difficult to find. Was wondering how safe is to buy from those places that import cars from UK. Not sure if I can mention names.
    Thanks a lot.

The Superb would be my choice because of two things - 1. The Superb has the much better and nicer DSG auto box and generally the Superb is very decent in Elegence trim. The majority of A6s tend to have the older multitronic box and the specs generally don't match the Superb Elegance.

With regards buying, as with any used car you need to do research and homework before buying. This would include background checks around service history including contacting the garages who stamped the book to verify what they did.

Doesn't the newer shape A6 have the newer gearbox?

I'd have the A6, but that's only because its a lovely looking car as an estate.

S-Tronic is still rare in the current shape A6 and only seems to have been rolled out fully with the recent facelift. Majority I seen have the mulitronic box. It's not a bad auto box but not as nice as the S-Tronic/DSG imo.

Ive recently bought a 2.0 170bhp DSG Superb elegance, i also looked at an A6 and the multitronic in the A6 was infuriating, never in the right gear and was constantly changing up and down for no reason.
The superb came with Satnav, heated elec leather and was a nicer drive tbh... A6 felt harsh and a bit crashy over rough ground.

Do you lads think the facelift version of Superb is worth it? Looks much nicer, but apart from looks not sure what are the real differences.

Regarding S-tronic, I think those are only from 2014. S-tronic is Audi version of DSG as far as I know.
Friend of mine drives A4 2007 Multitronic and he really likes it, more then DSG.
Ohh, and A6 Avant looks unreal, much much nicer the Superb.

Was the A6 S-line? That would explain the harsh drive.

Not much difference in the Superbs before and after the facelift. Main difference is the LED drl's and rear lights, also the xenon lights are much better on the FL model. Also a significant saving in the cost compared to an A6 and in service costs. Btw the DSG in the skoda is very smooth.

Still can't get over the days when a Skoda was one step up from a Lada.

Honestly I think the facelift does an awful lot to help the rear end of the saloon. The car still looks out of proportion, but those original light were absolutely appalling. Pre facelift is fine on the combi. I wouldn't go near the cvt on the Audi.

In the last four years I have owned a 5 series with ZF box, Passat with a DSG and a Multitronic A6. The multitronic is not as nice as the DSG but is comparable to the ZF.

I haven't experienced any of the issues you list and the ability to pick between eco, comfort, dynamic etc.. means it is pretty easy to find a style you like.

IMO the A6 is a big step up on a Passat (highline) finish and comfort wise, I assume the Superb is much the same spec as a Passat?

IMHO the current sterling/euro rate makes buying an import a less attractive option at the moment.

However, there aren't many good examples of either the A6 or Superb available here with relatively low mileage.

Might make more sense to have a look on the uk autotrader website. You'll find plenty of cars to choose from, many with full service histories. It might be worth it to pay a bit extra to find exactly what you're looking for. If you decide to make a trip across the water, you can always have any potential car checked out by the RAC for major mechanical defects for about £100...

I'd rate the Skoda above the Audi on the basis of value for money but in technical terms, it's a close run thing.

i would say the superb is a big step up from a passat tbh, but unless you've driven both its hard for me to force your opinion tbh

Nope, only a Passat.. my friend is picking up a new Elegance combi 4x4 in a few weeks so I will check his out.

:) I actually prefer the pre f/l one. I was meant the light from the lights not the way they looked:). I have one of each and prefer the older one but the DSG box on the newer model is very comfortable and smooth. Looked at an A6 with the intention of buying before the Skoda but couldn't see the extra 14k for a badge (and a smaller car).

I had a Superb Combi and replaced it with a new one this year - the facelift brings more efficient engines with lower CO2 as the main benefit. The DSG is great - I didn't get it as it was 3k more expensive but you won't pay that premium buying secondhand. To be honest, although the two cars are similar size and share some parts, the Audi is a real step up from the Superb in terms of cabin design and quality. The Superb appears to have more rear legroom but both cars are plenty big. The Multi-tronic I drove was quite nice once you get used to it.

Ultimately, I would consider the Superb much better value - a friend paid 35k for a multitronic estate recently which is about the same price you'd get a 2014 Superb DSG Combi Elegance for

What I meant by getting UK car was to use folks like autoexpress.ie Anyone got car from them?
If I go for Superb it will be the FL one, much nicer looking. Would like to get one with sunroof and key-less entry, preferably L&K. Quite a task in Ireland :-)

Question towards the owners(2.0 TDI), how noisy it is at 150-160?

Definitely agree with Casati, A6 is much nicer inside, outside too. A6 cabin looks unreal, really luxurious. Different class imo.

If it's the place in Limerick then I've looked at cars there in the past. The cars I looked at were clean, in good shape and most of them have full service histories.

Prices are on the strong side (almost main dealer prices) imo though but the one thing that was a deal breaker for me was the warranty on offer. As with the trend with alot of smaller dealers these days they tend to offer third party Mapfre warranties which are more an insurance policy to protect the dealer rather than the customer imo. Just make sure you are aware of what is and what isn't included under the terms of the warranty as you will be dealing with the warranty company which can be frustrating.
