Arsenal start their run to Berlin 2015 and lifting the trophy here at home to Monaco. Big night for this guy too facing his old club.

Are Monaco any use? Haven't watched them this season and they're 4th in the league

They have a very good midfield, that's for sure.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,382 ✭✭✭✭greendom

They tend not to concede, but then again they don't score much either

    Come on Arsenal!!!

Who the hell knows with this Jeckell and Hyde team. We could as easily lose as put the tie to bed tonight IMO.

Given their defensive prowess, all I ask for is a goal in the first half.

Monaco missing a lot of players through injury, have lost 2 and drawn one of their last 3 games. If Arsenal play like they can, which there is no reason to suggest they wont at home, then it should be a comfortable enough home win I would think.
Monaco are not a good team by any manner of means

Arsenal started the better so far. We must be aware of any counter attacks threats.

    Monaco haven't kicked off yet.

"Monaco are like mannequins at the minute" - Gary Neville.

Looked like a handball in the replay.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,309 ✭✭✭✭Quazzie

Definite handball there, but impossible for the ref to see.

Yet again the assistant behind the goal being useless.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,435 ✭✭✭wandatowell

Does the Monaco keeper have a stud in his lip? Either that or its a snot.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,233 ✭✭✭jacool

If Giroud just gives Abdennour a spare jersey at half time, will he stop hanging off him at every corner?
This ref and those impotent guys behind the goal are spineless.

    Fuuuuck!

Ospina not great there. Caught very flat footed.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 31,973 ✭✭✭✭Mars Bar

Ah it did take a deflection. You don't get if you don't try!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,398 ✭✭✭✭Turtyturd

Nothing he could do about that I think

Not much the keeper could have done there

No keeper in world football is getting near that.

If he wasn't so rooted he had some hope. It was well within his reach. Big deflection was the obvious reason it went in, but he didn't do himself any favours with how he was standing. The number one thing any goalkeeper is told, is stay on your toes.

    Classic Arsenal :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,080 ✭✭✭✭Maximus Alexander

Keeper had committed himself to the ball's original trajectory, nothing he could have done at that point.

Need to stop walking it into Monaco players ffs

Wenger needs to give a few of the players a kick in the bollix to wake them up.

Gives 1 minute of stoppage time, spends 30 seconds of it talking to Giroud about **** all, still blows up after 59 seconds, professional referees ladies and gentlemen.

From hearing Arsenal are in good form lately that first half was dreadful, same old.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,255 ✭✭✭shano_88

    Very poor stuff. so slow.

Crowd are very quiet as well. Things need to liven up.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,216 ✭✭✭Looper007

Well so much for a easy game, we have been shocking. you can see them just defending that lead now. We will need 3 goals for me to go to their ground in a somewhat comfortable position imo. We haven't even had a strike at goal.

Was just saying that myself. For such a big game the atmosphere is atrocious.

Would have been harsh to give a peno for that, O'zil was grabbing his arm.

Gary Neville is very annoying on commentary. Ozil hasn't played great but is being made a scapegoat by Neville. He does this always with foreign players but never with an Englsh player like for instance Welbeck missing a tackle in the build up to the goal.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,362 ✭✭✭K4t

Arsenal players realised they are the better team after 5 minutes of excellent attacking high tempo play and reverted back to trying to play perfect one twos through the middle.

But he did say Welbeck should have won that tackle.

Ozil has consistently given the ball away and done little to retrieve it when he does. Neville is calling it as it is.

    Poor miss.
