    Hi,

I am looking to do a head to head transfer at CO level in the Civil Service. Anywhere in Dublin City Centre or Dublin 7/9/11 would be my ideal location. I am based over the South Side of Dublin.

Please PM me for further details if you are interested in a head to head transfer.

Anyone have any tips on how to do a head to head?

I didn't realise you could find someone through the likes of boards.ie. I'd only seen it in the union magazines before.

Is there other ways to go about doing it? Do PAS have a panel you could express an interest in joining or anything?

I thought the union magazine was the only way too but i have noticed ads on boards from users over the years looking for a head to head transfer.

Basically once you find or know someone who is willing to do the swap with you, you can then take it from there. Both employees contact their Manager & HR to explain they have found someone willing to do a head to head transfer and it is up to Management if they allow it or not.

    PAS do not facilitate this.

Yeah management can refuse but you don't know until you try I guess :) I think if you have it set up properly beforehand and you know the details as to who is willing to swap with you - management should be ok with it

    Hey,
I am new to Boards - first post (very exciting!).

Can I ask you, Chocolate Chip Sunshine, why you are looking to move?

I am a Clerical Officer in the city centre, brand new to the civil service in the last few months. I like where I am, but am asking your reason in case it is that you are also new, and finding it difficult to integrate into your established office community?

I think it isn't easy moving into any long-standing community.

I will resist the temptation to use the emoji facility for as long as I can!

I am not new to the Civil Service - I am here a good few years.

My reason for transfer is for general career change and commuting reasons.

Best of luck in your own role & welcome to boards!

Relieved for you that it's not caused by difficulties of the social environment kind.

Hope you find a swap - I saw an ad for a CO vacancy in St Patrick's College Drumcondra this week. It says it is fixed term until the autumn though, so that could be a bit of dead end.

This Boards thing could get very addictive, I have a feeling!

I was based in Dublin, went on a transfer list for some towns in North Munster. I was was down the list is all the towns. Then one day a HEO rang me and said their was someone interested in doing a head to head from one of the towns. I was working twenty minutes from home within 6 weeks so things can work out !!!

    Hi Yeboah,
Sorry to jump in on an old thread, it's just that I'm trying to figure out how to transfer out of Dublin! You mentioned in your post that you went on a transfer list - how did you go about doing that? Was it through your Local HR? And does it have to be in the same department? My dept only have offices in Dublin and, I think, Tullamore but I want to go to the South East region. Thanks!
