Hi everyone..I'm getting married in April and just my flower quotation this evening..I was shocked! I need 1 bridal bouquet, 4 buttonholes and 3 candelabra arrangements (flowers at the top but excl candelabra). Can anyone recommend a reasonably priced florist in Dublin?? Thanks.

Do you mind me asking what your current quote was (you don't need to give the name of the florist, just a rough indication of the cost)? And also roughly whereabouts in Dublin will you be getting married? It'll help posters suggesting florists for you, because I remember from when I was looking, some will only travel within a certain distance if they're delivering flowers.

I was quoted 650euro. The hotel is in the city centre..the florist will have to travel there on the morning of the wedding to assemble the candelabra arrangements..I know that will take extra time, etc but I still think the quote was very high..or was I too naive about florist costs??!!

It is on the high side. That said maybe go back and be flexible with flower types and you'll save a lot. If you are specifically looking for really expensive flowers this may be the extra cost not the florist.

My sis paid 650 for her bouquet, 4 bridesmaids, 6 buttonholes, 3 'mums' flower arrangements on pearl wristands, a flower arrangement for the altar including the candles and little silver buckets with flowers in which the florist hung at the end of the 10 pews.

Her wedding was April too so she had cream for herself and lemon and cream for the rest - gerberas I think.

Yeah, that does sound a bit high. I reckon your candelabras are pushing the price up a bit. You might be better finding a florist near your venue, which will cut down on distance and travel time for the set-up. Also you choice of flowers will influence it; if you go with flowers that are in season at the time of your wedding, it can reduce the costs a lot. Also certain types of flowers are more expensive, I know one friend of mine had her heart set on one specific type of rose, but it would have cost an arm and a leg, but her florist was able to show her ones that were similar, but much less expensive.

Here's are two florists I found in the city centre that have their prices on their website:

    Blooming Amazing, Dawson St
    Green Art, Aungier Street

There are several others, but no prices, so you'd have to phone around and see. When I was pricing florists I knew what sort of flowers I wanted, and most were able to give me a rough guide price over the phone.

Thank you all for the flower and florist advice. I hadn't researched the cost of different flowers..instead just showed her photos of ideas I had..in hindsight that was a bit foolish!!

Photos with ideas are good, but I'd ask the florist is it going to be very expensive, and if so, wold there be any way to reduce costs ie: different flowers, sparkly bits, etc

Tell them your budget and show them photos for ideas. They'll be able to work.with that
