    Oh God!

    I've copied the link below:
    http://www.independent.ie/world-news/americas/dozens-hurt-after-train-crash-in-california-31018450.html

I for one am sad that people were hurt and also sad that the trains got smashed up

Hey look, I've quoted a section of the news article within the post about the article:
The truck became fully engulfed in flames. A US TV news helicopter is showing fire fighters treating numerous people at the scene

Numerous people. Awful stuff. At least there have been no casualties reported.
    That's my opinion After Hours.
    Whats yours?

    EDIT: You're hur-hur-hur :)

    Errr there have been casualties?
I think you mean there have been (for now) no fatalities.
Still seems like a bit of a pointless thread tbh.

It's almost like the thread has already been derailed.

No doubt, this is Enda Kenny's fault somehow.

I no longer click on links providing details of any crash. I learned my lesson after Porsche Girl.

Read on the news earlier that there are collisions involving trains in the United States ONCE EVERY 3 HOURS!

We have almost a quarter million grade crossings, and no small amount of idiot drivers and pedestrians to use them, I'm afraid.

What irritates me is that we have a pedestrian killed about once every six weeks here in the San Francisco Bay Area. Every time it happens, there are calls for more fences, more signs, more safety equipment. How about this? "STAY THE HELL OFF THE TRACKS!!!"

There is no vehicle as easy to avoid being killed by than a train. The things can weigh a couple thousand tons, are fifteen feet high, they are lit up like a christmas tree, and you can hear them coming long before they get to you. Oh, and they tend not to come at you from surprise directions or places, given that they, you know, have tracks. And you know you will lose if you meet one. This is one of those cases of Darwinian selection.

As to the crash for the OP, this was an odd one. It seems that the driver went slightly nuts, and started driving down the tracks, it wasn't a typical grade crossing accident of someone trying to beat the train and losing, or not realising that they couldn't clear the tracks due to traffic.
