Battle of the VTECs. Civic 1.8 Saloon vs. Accord 2.0

    Looking for some advice from peeps who have driven both of these, or owned either.

    Basically, my OH is looking for a change from her 1.6 Focus.
    With me being a bit of a Honda fan, I'm trying to convince her to have a look at either of these, a 1.8 Civic Saloon or a 2.0 Accord.

    We'll both use the car for city commuting, and the I'd enjoy the occasional spirited country road spin at the weekends. We'd do about 10,000 miles a year.

    Is there much of a difference between the two cars in reliability, mpg and comfort? What are they like to drive?

    We're specifically looking for any feedback on the FD type Civic saloon, and not the hatchback version made in the UK. They're somewhat of a rarity over here, and it's hard to find any decent reviews on them.

    I'm more drawn to the Civic, but she'd probably want more comfort. :pac:

    The Accords seem to be a bit of a bargain, but obviously have higher tax and fuel consumption

    We'd have a budget of about 5-6k.
