Has anybody gotten married in Dunmore House Hotel? I've sent off requested their price package last week but still haven't got a reply...is it expensive or what experiences have you had with them?

We priced it for our wedding but didn't go with it in the end because they had no Friday's or Saturday's in August, September or October for the year we were getting married. They book out fast!

Price wise they were pretty similar to everywhere else we priced. As far as I remember you build your own package rather than having a set package price so really depends on what you want to include. A guy I work with got married there last year and was very happy with how it went as well.

As far as I know they are closed until the first weekend in March so it might explain why they have not gotten back to you yet.

Is that the place just outside Clonakilty, overlooking the water? If so, we viewed it last year. The staff were lovely, the views were BREATHTAKING and the prices were very reasonable. I loved the place on the surface, but on closer inspection, it wasn't up to scratch. We saw it as they were setting up for a wedding so I presume it was looking its best. The white fencing had peeling and cracked paint work, the furniture in the lobby was really dated, the carpet in the function room wasn't hoovered well, and the red carpet was FILTHY. Like, covered in mud.

Attention to detail is something that's very important to us (my fiancé spent years in the hospitality industry so he's pretty anal about these things!) so those details overruled the spectacular views. Also, the road up there is terrible and there's only about 20 (very expensive) rooms so many guests would have to stay quite far away.

I've been to a good few weddings there and liked them all. The food is good and you get MASSES of it and they really do keep bringing out more and more. The afters food is lovely too. They do it up every few years so for each wedding it felt slightly different which was nice.

I must say I didn't notice the details Faith did but I was only a guest. I don't like their drinks reception area as if there are other people staying then they are passing in and out which is fine but it just feels a bit odd. Also you have to pay what they charge you - there is NO haggling and even if you don't want 3 choices of main or a choice of dessert this is what you are given and you have to pay. Also, they don't do menu tastings (might put some off, wouldn't for me to be honest but that's 'cause I've been there so many times :))

On the rooms and there not being many I'd say it's fine as long as the bride and groom organise a bus or cabs constantly coming back and forth. I was at one wedding where we all fell asleep in the lobby waiting for a cab. Another wedding then had a bus coming back constantly and was only €2 each.

I typed my last post while walking, so I wanted to add:

I can't remember precisely, but I feel like the price per head was somewhere in the E60 to E75 range, including wine. We viewed it early in the season, I think March or April 2014, and they were already heavily booked for 2015.

I don't want to sound overly negative either. Like I said, the staff were really nice, the rooms looked lovely, the prices were reasonable, the view is unbeatable and I'm sure it would be a fabulous place for a wedding! Depending on your level of attention to detail, you might not care about the things that bothered us :)

I would appreciate any feedback on this hotel too as it looks fab on the surface. Their refusal to negotiate worries me though considering they don't include the usual complimentary perks plus we are on a budget. :-(

Also does anyone have any experience of the bar extension here (price & time)? That's apparently not complimentary either so could be a deal-breaker if it doesn't stay open late enough to justify paying for it. And what time will the residents bar serve until? (Priorities,eh?!)

Anyone have this (or any other) info on this venue please?

I love it but having e-mailed the proprietor & requested just some basic info a week ago & not received anything back yet,I'm wondering if the customer care may be a bit complacent due to their apparent popularity?

They may still be closed. What happened when you phoned them?

They 're open alright,I was down there last week, saw the room & got the brochure but it doesn't contain a lot of information. So I e-mailed the owner just asking her to answer a couple of basic questions which we needed to clarify before making a decision. No reply for days, then she e-mailed back just saying send me your number & I'll call you. Which I did but still waiting! It was literally only 3 or 4 basic questions, wish she would've just answered them!

Just wondering if anyone who's had their wedding there could let me know what time you were allowed to have bar/entertainment until & what time the residents bar served until coz we will be a very small family gathering so the bar will be the most important thing! ;-)

That's irritating alright. I just checked my emails and I was in touch with Anne Marie, who replied quite promptly to my emails (of which there were only 2). I'd say call them to follow up, maybe? I do seem to remember her saying that the bar opened quite late, but I could be totally wrong.

Thanks Faith. Will have to give them a call alright. I know they're probably very busy & all but it doesn't bode well for wedding planning down the line if I am going to have to be chasing them.

OP,did you ever hear back from them regarding your query?

Bar extension circa €450 until 2.30 and then the residents bar just kept going really.
