High street fashion/Pennys fashion vs High designer fashion trends..

So i want to know is it true that high fashion items tend to be ''timeless'' and ''classic'' as opposed to high street trends and pennys trends?

What's your take on it? Is it true? Or just a sellers point to get you to buy more expensive pieces.

Generally i can afford to get the high designer luxury item - but i much prefer to not buy them all the time and go for even the pennys pieces and river island pieces when it comes to trends.

The way i see it is; A trend will go out of fashion eventually so why pay more for it when you can pay less and have money left over to buy new trends the following season.

I find it so hard to keep up with fashion. They seem to come up with a new trend every 3 months,ie every season.

If its not pointy shoes, its round tip shoes,or if its not a boat neck its a v neck or neon colours and prints or muted natural nude colours, where does it end girls?

Is it time to grow up girls, and find out what really suits you? Instead of blindly following trends eventhough they might not suit your bodyshape or colouring?

We live in a throw-away age, where everything is recyled or dumped in a dumping site,i find im becoming more enviornmentally conscious and dumping less, recylcling more and just BUYING LESS.

Its good for the planet too,i have had enough of consumer brand worship. And being a wage slave to fashion. Rant over.

Just buy black. It never goes out of season and its very common to see plenty of people outside Ireland only wear black. I know tons of people whose 90% of their clothes is just black. They arent constantly changing their wardrobe because floral is no longer in.

I know people dont really like black clothing, but if its form fixing it can look really good

I just buy patterns and styles that I like and where them all year round whether they're "in style" or not. That includes stuff from Penney's etc. Tbh, I never really follow what the tends are though you can often work it out from what's on shops at certain times of the year. I'm finding very little worth buying atm though, I haven't seen much in a while, the trends definitely aren't going my way!

I guess I like trends to certain extent because make things more interesting but I don't overly follow them. When I decide I need new black high heeled shoes I buy them and atm it is big likelihood I will buy stilettos not platforms but I won't run into the shop next month if something else comes in.

Having young kids seriously affects the ability to buy designer gear so I tend to buy more mid range stuff and some lower priced brands. I am big fan of Mango because they fit my body shape. On the other hand I detest Penny's. The clothing in there is just thrown around like it has no value, their tailoring as far as I can tell is bad and materials are often flimsy. I buy some stuff there but more because I am stuck than because I want to. I try to buy shoes made of natural materials because my feet tend to swell in plastic. I wear a lot of black and white, mostly primary colors and very few florals. So while I could have trendy pieces they most likely fit my general preferences and I keep clothes for years and add every season. I don't do a lot of shopping.

I don't really follow trends that much. I tend to buy plain rather than patterned clothing and tend to buy black alot.

I really don't buy shoes because they are in fashion or not but rather invest in good comfortable shoes as I tend to be on my feet and walk a lot.

I tend to buy mid range mostly and but will invest if I am buying certain items like long black winter coat etc.

I tend to update my outfit with things like scarfs (I do buy these from Pennys)

I'm a student and I just can't afford to overhaul my wardrobe every season (as most other people can't). Instead I try to buy basics in neutral colours and simple silhouettes that won't be out of fashion in four months' time. I tend to focus my spending on things like black skinnies, knitwear, plain day dresses, simple tops and t-shirts, black ankle boots, LBDs. I rarely wear patterns or 'trendy' gear. I mostly buy from River Island, Boohoo, Vero Moda and other such shops.

As a fashion lover, I admire women who can pull off fashionable outfits, but I have neither the build nor the cash for them!

I'm wearing a Christmas jumper from Penneys right now. No regrets.

I have no ideas what's 'in season', I just buy what I like, plain clothes usually, avoid floral like the plague, and wear whatever I find in the wardrobe. Although tbh, I don't dress very girly. I prefer jeans and converse to dresses or heeled shoes, and anything with no shoulders makes me feel naked.

I genuinely don't really know what patterns are in fashion at the moment. I buy what I like and don't really consider if it's trendy or in fashion. To be honest, any expensive pieces I've bought in recent times that might be patterned I'd still wear today because I feel that they suit my shape and I like the colours and patterns.
