How to get over Impossible Dreams?

I was just wondering what people's opinions are.

I would love to be an actor (but feel like im too old and frankly not good enough)
A singer would be another career I would have liked to have tried (but can't sing)
I would love to experience bigger and better things and perform and be a role model for younger generations etc.

When I see people like Ed Sheeran on television, he seems like quite a regular guy but has incredible talent.

I just don't have that talent and I was wondering how people get over knowing that they will never do something that they would love to do.

    Thanks for reading.

How can you have a dream of becoming a singer when you can't sing??? Isn't that just about silly. Would you not be better choosing a realistic dream that you have some chance of achieving?

I have no dreams or aspirations and so will never be disappointed or dissatisfied with my life. It's better like that.

Scale down, instead of dreaming of becoming an actor, dream of becoming a failed actor.

Pick something (anything) and get yourself skilled at it bit by bit. I hadn't painted since school and recently took it up again. I'll never be Jack B. Yeates or Francis Bacon but I take so much pleasure learning bit by bit even though subjectively people probably think it's sh*te. The joy is in the learning and in the process, that goes for most things. Don't take up a hobby for validation or for people to tell you you're great, do it because you enjoy it.

Only a very tiny fraction of people ever achieve what they want from life. The majority will fail to realise their various ambitions - using alcohol and other drugs to distract themselves, or in many cases, delude themselves into thinking that there's any way out, other than death.

    Happy Friday children.

In time you will forget your dreams and accept a life of mundanity

Start doing something about it instead of dreaming? Join a local acting group; join a choir; expose yourself at some Nationally Televised Event (you heard me)

With a nice cold, hard slap of reality.

How many other millions of people dream about living the life you live?

If you've food, shelter, you're doing better than millions. Enjoy it.

I can't post links yet but if I could I'd be posting a Karate Kid montage here.

Take up drama. Act in local plays and performances. If that doesn't satisfy your need perhaps it's fame you seek rather than the dream of acting?

Hypnosis c'ds, motivation and pushing yourself are much more easily achieved using these motivational subconscious techniques. Trust me they work. (when done regularly)
Paul MKenna is a good place to start.
There are lots of free uploads on youtube.

Hope this helps. best of luck.

There is no such thing as talent, only hard work.....dedicated 16 hour days as opposed to..... the 9-5 and home to watch the telly, rinse repeat! Down the boozer at weekend and sleep!
That's the difference between making something of yourself or not. It's never too late to achieve something but you need to be realistic about the heights you will scale dependant on your age, work ethic, network of contacts etc.
Acting is fairly easy one, you can do short beginner courses, move to more advanced, get motoring in local amateur dramas, next step get on the road with the semi professionals theatre groups which travel the country. Nobody goes from zero to hero overnight....its all about the stepping stones.
