I'd say go for it! The 2.0 is a grand engine, the 1.8 is an underpowered 2.0 but a remap can sort all that out ;)

Looks like it says 2.0t at the back?

Think I will view it tomorrow.

Be rude not to! just make sure everything works, push all the buttons, and make sure the heater and stuff works, and the window motors like to die on them so check the windows open and close, also if you bring it for a spin listen out for any squeaks or rattles from the dashboard, they have a habit of doing that

    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

An Opel engine unfortunately, not the trusted old Saab one. Nothing too much wrong with it though.
the window motors like to die on them

Again it's not the motor that goes wrong typically but the stupid green plastic rollers that Opel uses or used for the window winding mechanism. Opel owning Saab was really the beginning of the end for a legendary car maker :(

Like your Saab threads though, toastedpickles :)

Any of the ones I've recently worked on 9/10 it was the motor, only got one or two with the busted rollers

    also thank you :)

Just saw the 2.0T on the photo.

For the record both the 1.8t and the 2.0T are exactly the same 2 litre Turbo engine. The difference is a software setting for low / high pressure turbo.

The 1.8i is under powered and to be avoided. But the 1.8t is a fine engine.

anyone know is the 2.0 petrol engine is considered generally ok?

I had an 03 one of these a few years ago, it was the 1.8t variant, same 2.0L engine just lower pressure turbo

Had no issues with it at all, decent engine, fine for over taking and decent enough on the backroads for the type of car it is

A few cosmetic points let it down as it gets older, the plastics on buttons and switches wears very easily and the trim on the door handles and mirrors fades to grey instead of black

Aside from that for an older car it was pretty good and would have no problem looking at one again if I was in the market for something that size

it is a lot of car for little money, didn't cost me anything other than servicing and brake discs during my ownership

guys, would this 2.0 petrol model be more expensive to run compared to the 2.0 diesel?

    There's no 2.0 diesel ;)

And to answer your question - how long is a piece of string? Diesel is more expensive to buy (and you'll get a far higher mileage one than a petrol) but cheaper on fuel. Not as reliable as petrol though. And petrol is far nicer and more refined to drive.

Unless your mileage is well over average (average is just under 20k km per year in Ireland), I would go petrol.
