That fact his username is DoYouEvenLift should at least be some hint towards his mental age :pac:

Do you regret your previous purchase of the wet-dog scented air freshener, or was it just time for a change?

I'm just curious because I've noticed some of his posts can be quite interesting and thoughtful. Then there's this thread, something like an attention seeking teenager would post.

Whilst the delivery of the op might be a bit in your face, I too have often wondered about this one....

I am amused at people that swear left, right and centre, but the mention of the word in question knocks them back. When, where and why did this word become the taboo resident it is today??

I find there is a geographic divide with the use of the word. Where I am from in the Midlands, the word is used liberally, but in other parts of the country it is the worst thing you can say to someone.

    When are the schools back?

The word Twat is one of my favorites. Can be used a lot either in a light hearted way or a fnuck off away from me way.

What I can not stand is the Americans who pronounce it as TWOT.

    Cnunts.

Only outside of AH, AH is the one forum posters shouldn't be judged or taken seriously for what they post on boards, if I had it my way this section would be unmoderated (but private and only for members with 100+ posts)

Not at all , if I need the " wet dog aroma " , I just bring the mutt for stroll and place him where the aroma is needed.

Fair enough. I'm just constantly bemused by some the threads posted on AH. I'm older than the average poster on this forum and generally just roll my eyes in a condescending manner and tut tut.

I shall return to my lofty perch and judge silently.;)

Nah, no excuses to let people run rampant with their sexism, racism, and generally bigotry, as much as people wet themselves thinking about it.

I find it's women who get most offended when referred to as...you know. Never from using the word as a swear-word. I've called men all manner of everything and they returned the favour and there is no certain swear-word that I find offensive.

'Dear'? I'm guessing. When you typed '****' it got asterisked out.

I rather thought it could be inferred from the thread topic...

Many Irish people swear all the time. People from other countries are sometimes horrified by our language.

A gentleman wouldn't use such vulgar language.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,794 ✭✭✭Aongus Von Bismarck

It's a deeply unpleasant word and I never use it. It seems to be becoming more popular in casual conversation, which is a sign of the times. If it serves any purpose it's to let you know that the person uttering it is lacking in class, manners and refinement, and should be purposely avoided. The type of people who are proud of their own ignorance.

Do you really think so? I believe that vulgar language when used in the right context is entirely appropriate. You cunt :)
