Dublin to Koh Samui, Multiple carriers, technicalities

    Hey guys,

I've spent good couple of hours trying to research into this and with no luck. I hope someone might've been in the same boat and could assist.

I have DUB-LHR-KUL-USM return flight booked via Gotogate. Admittedly gotogate are not very helpful with answering the questions (hence I have to ask here). I've purchased this in a single transaction.

    DUB-LHR is operated by BA
    LHR-KUL is MH
    KUL-USM is PG
    USM-KUL is PG
    KUL-LHR is MH
    LHR-DUB is EI

I've got the PNRs for both BA and MH and when logging into "Manage my booking" on BA I can see the segments all the way from DUB to USM (not return though), with DUB-LHR status as "Confirmed" and the rest as "Information only".
On MH "Manage my booking" I can see the full itinerary. So I guess its on a single reservation. It also seems like the validating carrier is MH.

    My questions are:

    1) The most important one - will I be able to check in online and choose a seat? I'm worried in particular for LHR-KUL-LHR legs, where seat choice is important, its a very long flight.
At the moment, BA "Manage booking" shows check in opens the day before departure, but I have a worry this will only be for DUB-LHR leg. Should I try to check in on BA or MH site (note that MH online checkin opens 48 hours before the flight and BA only 24),
    2) It seems to be a single reservation, hence I guess I'll be able to transit airside in LHR, and any missed connections are also MH problem, not mine? I will have 1:50 to transfer on the way out and 1:10 on the return, but return is less of a concern since LHR-DUB flights are frequent.
    3) I'm Bronze with BA, both BA and MH are oneworld, so I should be able to collect miles?

Thanks so much in advance for all your help! I have searched the forum, but have only found a similar topic back from 2013 and it doesn't really answer my questions.

    @whomitconcerns,

Thanks so much for the advise, I didn't know you can do this with the travel agent bookings. Called MH office and they solved the seating issue in no time, booked me window seats on both flights. So at least the most important concern is gone :).

Regarding 2), regardless of PNR number, did you receive an email containing your e-tkt number?
For example, Lufthansa e-tkts start with 220. You should be able to find out which is the issuing airline by the first 3 digits of the tkt.

And thats exactly what I did. Checked seatguru..found good seats and called them. No hassle no cost. All booked via travel agent in my case too

@Filipa, yes, it starts with 232. And its the same across all segments of the flight, which I believe is good since it means its a single itinerary. Quick Google search suggests that 232 is MH.
