What's the most outrageous price you have been charged for a simple looking part?
Got this today. 40 euro plus an amazing 26 to a courier.....:(

Was quoted €500 from a New Holland dealer (usually good for older stuff in fairness) for an exhaust elbow for a 76 Ford 7600. Went to the local steel merchants and bought an elbow and a 6 inch off cut of pipe and made it myself.

The pump on the sprayer for the quad is gone.
I've been assing around and finally picked up the phone today.

I rang Connaught Agri, a 12V that can move 4.4gals per minute is 220 plus vat!!!
id buy a new tank and lance and pump for less than that!
fair enough its a good pump, but its not worth that price!!

    Rant over!

    ok now i'm getting wise.
the pump above is 4.4 gals per minute.
the pump below is larger, at 5.5 GPM
    Connaught-agri are 260+vat = almost 300 Euro.
Amazon is 149.56+3.50= 153.06 delivered, (incl 3.50 for parcel motel to send it down here from the north -add in 3.50)

Strange timing but just after having hassle getting parts for the tedder. Waiting 7 days for a dealer to ring me with the prices for the parts. I eventually rang the main office in dublin yesterday and complained.

After 7 days of silence and run around I had 5 missed calls from the dealer by 10am this morning with all the prices I needed. Amazing what a little pressure from the higher management can do

Spare parts are a rip off in this country, somebody tried to charge me €50 for a plough point last year.

Has anyone ever been genuinely surprised by how cheap something was? I broke a glass door on a fiat cab last autumn and it was about €120 + vat, which was way less than I thought it was going to be, off Shaws in Portumna.

If the seat's wet, sit on yer hat, a cool head is better than a wet ar5e.

Not strictly spare parts but I had to get a few non return valves for sewer pipes today , €185 each for literally 10" of pipe with a flap inside it ! A 2" saddle for a 6" pipe and a few fittings was nearly €250 euro . Fcuking daylight robbery .
Whats worse is I'm fitting them in a basement full of rats and all the offices upstairs are using the jacks while we are cutting the pipes and fitting them
