well lads.I currently have a 2004 hi spec 1600 gallon slurry tank with non recesed wheels and I am looking to upgrade to a bigger tank in between 2000 and 2300 gallons.I want to go with an abbey, major or most likely a hi spec as my old one was great.my problem is picking the brand. I was looking at a hi spec 2000 gallon on 30.1 wheels because some of the land is wet also most of the land is flat but there are some hills too. power wont be an issue as I will be using a 130hp 4 wheel drive Renault. My neighbour had a 2400 major on 30.1 wheels and said it bounced on the road like crazy and he recently switched to a hi spec 2500 on 30.1 wheels and said it was great.Im sorry for the long post but what tank between 2000-2300 gallons would be best for me. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

bought an 1800 recessed conor tank here last year, very impressed with it. very well built. very easy to pull.
if buying a second hand tank with recessed be careful with the condition of the tyres as there the guts of 2k each to change em.

Hispec 2300 with recessed wheels here. good tank, never caused bother,
Easy to pull even with a 7740 if needed.
    Excellent on soft ground.
My advice is go as big as you can afford. 2000 isnt a big step up from a 1600 gallon tank.

I heard a story about the abbey 2300 gallon tanks. Supposedly when they make the tanks they are 2300 but cut the recesses out of them and then they hold 2000gallons.
    A hispec 2300 is a 2300

A friend bought a second hand 02 2350 hispec a few months back and I gave him a hand tidying it up and re spraying it. Sanded the whole lot of it and there wasn't one bit of rot anywhere in it, serious steel in them and it wasn't a tank that was too well minded. I know Majors and Conor's the same age around here have pin holes in them.

    A hispec 2300 is a 2300

Think that was the case with the older abbey 2250's alright, think they changed tho and the newer ones are the right capacity!

    possibly a 8000litre pump vs a 10000 litre pump.
Also its hard to compare pumps as basic servicing can make a whole lot of difference.
Some lads never throw oil into a pump

Ok I'm fairly sure I will go with a 2300 Gallon hi spec on 30.1 wheels but is it worth buying a new.one or should I buy a second hand one that I could tidy up

Conor here 2250, 8 yrs not a bother. Well balanced for road work and spring drawbar stops smaller tractors being horsed around. Pulled with a MF 5455 no bother

You will have to look at what is out there and make the call yourself.
as another poster said be wary of tyre condition as they could cost up tot eh guts of 2k to replace. And whats out there could have an aweful lot work done. Ours was bought new in 07 and has spread in excess 1.5million gallons a year, tyres are showing wear, a few cuts in the tyre lugs on the LHS wheel
.the seal went in the ram in the back door twice, bad design really there .

My advice is price a new one and see whats out there second hand,
You dont want to spend two weeks travelling the country looking at crap and then spend time/money tidying it up.
At least if you order new you should get fairly quick with no work to be done

I'd agree with this poster, you may get 3 or 4k as a trade in on your own tank. Then put cost of 10k across 3 years and its becomes very cheap very fast! And then you won't have to put a spanner to it for 10yrs at a minimun if you look after it well and keep plenty of oil in the pump.

F*cking hell, if I was to get one instead of using the contractor it would be about 20 years before it would payback for itself.

I use contractor with 3500 gallon splash late and 2500 gallon trilling shoe .ive my own 1600 gallon hi spec for parlour washings and doing small bits.no way I'd spend 14 k on new tank ,contractor way better value and tanks easier on land also frees up my time more

And that price was for a 2000gallon fleming . Not to mention a 2300gallon hispec. I dont rate fleming products

Has anyone priced a new 2300gallon hispec

Think that's about the run of any of them, :(

Biggest things to check if pricing round Different makes are, axle/brake shoe sizes, tank wall thickness and make sure they are actually carrying stayed capacity,
