Made redundant in 2014 - didn't work after - claim tax back?

I worked full time right up until September 2014 and was made redundant.

I didn't work since then, but would've paid full tax up until that point.

Am I due tax back on the basis that I would've been taxed on 12 months, but only worked 9 of those?

    Any help appreciated, thanks.

It depends on how much you paid - requesting a p21 will answer that and get the refund issued if there is one.

It's likely you do, as your credits and cut offs would have been calculated over a full year so would have some that weren't applied

    Thanks.

Is it just as simple as ordering the P21, getting it in the post and then is there a cheque issued for the refund amount?

(I must be due something as was paying tax in full like I was in 2013, but then didn't work 3 of those months at end of year).

You can register online to use paye anytime and claim back any tax due to you for the last 4 years.

In each year you can request a p21 balancing statement take around 2 days and any money owed to you can be sent out in a cheque or transferred into your bank directly depending on your preference chosen when registering.

Yes its that simple. Ring 1890-777-425, have your PPS number ready and choose 'order p21 balancing statement' from the self serve option. If you are due a refund it will issue automatically. It sounds likely that you could be due a refund as long as your tax credits and cut off were originally applied properly by your employer.

Thanks again for replies. Seems I may be due something so.

Can I also ask ye, my employer gave me a P50 form (blue and white), titled:
"First claim for a repayment of income tax and/or universal social charge (USC) during unemployment".

Is this correct to fill out too? Or just go about the P21 route?

    Thanks.

The P50 was the correct form to use last year. We have now moved into a new tax year so requesting a review of 2014 online or over the phone should suffice. Note if you were receiving jobseekers benefit from when you wereade redundant to the end of 2014, that will ne taxable.
