Original sin and more recent sins of the catholic church

It's my understanding that the catholic church still teaches the concept of original sin, that everyone born into the faith carries this sin.
Should the more recent sins of the church be added to this original sin for newly baptised members.
Mods. Please try not to whisk this off to the religion forum. This idea came up in a discussion last night. I'd like the opinions of the members here, rather than those religous nuts.
Poll on the way if I can figure out how.

Why should innocent babies carry the sins of others?

Ironically, the original sin is actually allowing the Catholic Church to exist in the 21st century.

    Huh?
Newer sins come from original sin surely.

Just out of interest OP are you Catholic? I don't really understand what you are asking, do you mean the sins of the priests should be shared among the Catholic community as a whole? How about we just blame those responsible and leave everyone else alone. Anyway any religion that classes a newborn baby as a sinner is sick.

I was born and raised a catholic but am non practising and not realy much for religous argument. However last night I was out for a drink with the father of a new baby and he brought up this subject. He didnt want his child baptised but his wife and family did.

MOD: Well you may have been able to have a thread about it here, but using the line "rather than those religous nuts" doesn't make it sound like you want anything other than to bitch about religion.
