I'm Putting a new set of wheels on my bike..

The question I'm asking is this: Is there a huge difference between a 12-28 and a 12-30 cassette. I currently run a 12-30 and find the 30t handy going up hills (small ones) and I'm worried if I put on a 12-28 It'll be hell getting up those hills, Also is it worth my while going for ultegra over a 105 casstte..

    Cheers.

I use 11 28 on te back. The 28 gets used when legs are shattered or hills go above 17%
Its nice to have one more cog in reverse. Not sure I would use a 30 in my local area anyway

i got for cheap onesyself and get almost a year out of them in most cases

This made me laugh, whether you meant "in reserve" or not, it is curiously appropriate either way.

Why not stick with the 30 then and avoid worrying?

105 or even Tiagra will be fine - the weight difference is negligible and it will be cheaper.

Your current cassette should have a 28 sprocket no?

find a hill and go up it on the 28 and see if you can live with out the 30?

True, I've been in the 28 and had to go to the 30, might just be mind over matter etc...I'm over 100kg so hills are hard enough with a 30t...

There is probably a large portion of truth in there somewhere...:D

Might just bite the bullet and get a 11-23 and MTFU
