Guys, looking to kickstart a stag weekend in Kinsale on Friday 17th July with a casual game of golf. Budget will obviously exclude old head and Kinsale golf club itself is booked out that that day so need to look elsewhere.

Most will be travelling from Wexford so was thinking Castlemartyr? Any other hidden gems in and around Cork City on the Eastern or Southern side?

I know the main Fota Island course is probably too dear, but are the second and third courses decent, cheap enough?

Probably looking at 30 quid per head budget.

Pity as there's little in the area without having to do a bit of a drive afterwards. I'd suggest Mahon, only be sure to get out early on a Friday as rush hour traffic from 3 on- It's a handy enough track for all handicaps imo.

For more of a challenge, Muskerry, Lee Valley or Douglas. The first two would be within easier reach afterwards to Kinsale.

Monkstown maybe? Not too far from the city and a decent course in a nice setting.

Would you get green fees at Monkstown or Cork for €30?

Waterrock about €25 Nice handy track to ease you into the weekend. Great for all abilities.

Castlemartyr would also be a good shout. At your budget of 30 robably wont get much better than castlemartyr without taking you to much out of your way.

Lee Valley is also a good shout would be taking you slightly out of your way though.

Friday afternoon approaching the Dunkettle interchange from Midleton though. Castlemartyr would be my number 1 traffic aside(and thirst:-))

Castlemartyr would be your best bet! Get on to Brady or Alan in the Pro Shop on 021 4219001 they will sort something if there is a group of ye. The often do food and golf deals so be no harm getting on the them!

Thanks Guys. Some great suggestions there. Have had a look at Waterrock, Monkstown and Castlemartyr. If Monkstown give a good deal will probably go with that to give the guys travelling from Dublin a chance.

Bandon a beautiful and good value course. Ideally located on the right side of the city for a short drive afterwards. Having looked at all other suggested option this would be my choice all things considered (mostly proximity for pints afterwards..!!)

Went with Monkstown in the end. Looks a nice track to suit the group, within budget and reasonable distance from Kinsale. Thanks all for your input.

Why don't you just play Kinsale Golf Club.

Lovely course - requires some course management off the tees for sure.
