Hey Philip, how long was it the bag for?
was the bag damp or left in a damp place?
the last few weeks have been very cold, this could also do a bit of damage,
while the GB units are waterproof, if the wee rubber usb cover at the bottom is left open
    water damage can happen.

It was about six weeks in the boot of the car
no sign of any damp just cold and the usb seal was closed the gb always stayed in the golf bag in the boot

with out seeing it man, I would say the the cold has damaged it.
the last six weeks, assuming you are in Ireland have been very very cold at night, a golf bag in the boot won't offer much protection.
Hope I'm wrong, But can't really offer any other reason.

    what model is it?

If ya wanna do you reckon its over 2 years old?
GB have a 2 year warranty on all products, customer neglect is not covered but I believe they are excellent to deal with and may offer something.

Contact support at gpsgolfbuddy dot eu describing the issue. They may make you jump through a few hoops first (try emergency reboot etc. etc.) but ultimately if it's broken they will get you to ship it back via a returns label and send you another.

    Hoopage detail below:

In order to initiate an “Emergency Reboot”, please follow these steps:
•First Make sure that the unit is fully charged.
•Please note that all user information will be lost, not the Scores and other "DATA".
    •Turn off the unit completely.
•Press and hold the “Menu” button.
•While Holding the “Menu” button press and hold the “Power” button until the screen lights up.
•Release the “Power” button but keep holding down the “Menu” button.
•Once you see “emergency reboot 1/3” on the screen, release the “Menu” button.
•Set aside the unit for approximately 5 minutes and the unit will reset the factory setting.

Another way to do this Emergency reboot, is the following:
    •Have the unit turned off.
    •Hold the menu button.
•And while holding down on the menu button, plug the unit into a computer or a power outlet using the data cable.
•It should light up and indicate the emergency booting.
    •Then release the menu button.

After this procedure, please update the firmware on your unit. This will improve the correct performing of the unit. You can update the firmware using the GolfBuddy World Course Manager.

There is a local agent for Golf Buddy located in Sandyford Industrial Est called Fade Agencies. If you wanted a quick turnaround with your GB you should contact them.
