Springing dairy heifer with large growth on teat

Any hope of saving the quarter? The growth is on the tip of the teat and from what I can see it's blocking the teat canal. If I got the vet to cut it off after she calves but I suppose the canal could still be blocked after.

I presume she is a dairy heifer. I think vets have a lance that can be used to open teats but the scar tissue etc can be a pain in the ass.

Is it warts? Is it sore? You may still be able to milk it out. We use cod liver oil (or any oil on warts and they get soft and fall off after a week or two).

    Any chance of a photo?

I was running around the yard after her this morning trying to get a photo :D I will get it by tonight and put it up here. It's fairly nasty looking. I never have any trouble with home reared stock it's always with bought in stock. I bought her in as a maiden and she was clear then.

I'd try rubbing in olive oil regularly just in case it might avoid the cutting option, while you still have a chance.
