    Hey guys,

looking to get the home gym back up. Have a squat rack I got from Irish lifting a few years ago and 140kg of weight. Going to need a good bar that I can use for Squat/DL/OHP and Bench. Also going to need another 100kg of Weights and a Bench.

Where do you guys reccomend I get my gear from? baring in mind Ive read some bad reviews of Irish lifting here and dont want to put money towards something that will just give me a headache down the line.

I've been getting all my gear from D8 Fitness and Mark has always gone above and beyond.

What do you think of strength shop Hanley. They make their own plates so seem to be cheaper than most irish companies. Only thing is shipping costs.is

Ive been looking at this set up here. https://www.strengthshop.ie/weights-bars/packages/177-5kg-plate.html

It would solve most of my issues, only thing to add to it is a bench.

Iv ordered from stregthshop before and cant fault them. Youd get weight plates on the likes of adverts.ie for €2 kg sometimes brand new.

Price looks good if you want steel plates.

I've ordered off them before with positive experiences.

    Strength shop aren't "Irish" tho.

They're UK/German based but they have an Irish URL because they sell a lot here and have crashed thru the VAT threshold and set up an Irish company and registered an irish name.

    Kinda sneaky really.

Judging by the picture in that link, their plates are the same as some of the ones in Animal Barbell gym in Dublin... A few of which are more than 10% lighter or heavier than they should be. So I guess there might be a reason they're cheap - some variation is normal if you're not paying €4k for an Eleiko competition set but a 20kg plate weighing almost 23kg is just silly. I would at least email them to ask about the tolerances the plates are made to before buying.
