Current UPC modem?

I currently have UPC 30mb and a EPC2203 with my own router hanging off it.

I'm pretty sure I want to keep my router. If I upgrade to 240mb what modem/router are they going to give me?

More speed is obviously better, but I am happy enough with my current service. Apart from price, is there any reason not to change?

They will give you a DOCSIS 3.0 modem, either the Technicolor TC7200 or the Ubee.

You will be able to use your own router hanging off it by following my guide here:

I signed up for the 240Mb BB as a new customer this week. The install is scheduled for tomorrow but they made a mistake and posted the modem in advance. I got the Techicolor model.

There is a thread on 'Talk to UPC' about the Ubee modem needing a firmware fix as it has problems handling 10/100 ethernet and it means the speed won't go over 30Mb. atm the Ubee works better with 10/100/1000 ethernet. In the thread it is mentioned that the Technicolor doesn't have that problem.

OP, not sure if that will have an impact on you if you use your existing modem hooked up to the Ubee?

    They're good threads, thanks guys.

The 10/100 issue probably won't affect me too much (all ports on my router are gigabit), so I should be okay with either of the routers, which is handy.
