This place is lovely, and some great forests nearby for dog walking :)

I didn't! I was there visiting a friend, and thought the place was lovely... very dog friendly from the point of view of safety, but also the people living there love their pooches :)

It's not SE, but can thoroughly recommend the Waterfront Hotel in Baltimore, W Cork. Can't link to their website ATM, but they're very dog-friendly. Ask for the room with the private yard. You can let the dog out to do his business (providing of course you have bags!! :D), and the owners are very accomodating. Tel: 028 20600.
