we would be hoping to upgrade un the next couple of years too.
Kuhn seem to have the best name out there for reliabilty.
I like the lely Splendimo "M" though. its balanced from the centre of the mower and falls as the ground falls or rises.
dont know if it has the test of time yet though.

Use 2 of those Kuhn here but they are 12 foot jobby's for mowing delicate crops.
For heavy lodged crops they don't cope that well, plus right angle gearbox is soft and expensive...
    Trailed JD 1365 are good.

What about the malone. Very strong but seems heavy tho. I think the bed is even galvanised if my memory serves me right

Have a 1360 Deere. Old now but still good. Easy to change a bearing if need be, without splitting bed. Kuhn beds in them. Don't know enough about their new range to comment. Are you buying brand new, or new to you?

What's gone wrong on the lely?

If the seat's wet, sit on yer hat, a cool head is better than a wet ar5e.

I think he means very soft as in durability

If buying new you won't get better than a Kuhn. Have had mounted ones here for about 20 years, the heavy duty version is very durable for both topping and mowing and holds its value well when trading in.

Vicon. Not as heavily built as some of the others but excellent in heavy crops. Way better to cut than kuhn

Have a kuhn 8ft myself. Bought it new in 2011 for 8500. The one gripe i have bout it is that you have to fold up the hood on it to lift it upright and if your topping it gets covered in cowdo and can be a ton weight so not sure i'd buy one again.

We bought a new krone in 2013 i think it was €6800 inc vat for an 8ft model... a great simplistic mower and a direct drive shaft into the bed.. we have a 70hp tractor driving it with ease and mowed a few heavey crops.. easy to maintain aswell quiet to work and built solid.. we had a kuhn gmd & major mower and i wouldn't put them in the same league

Have a Krone here over 20yrs. Had to replace the bearings a few times very easily done and not expensive. Will get another one when I change
