I am interested in going into play therapy, (I have a background in social care) and would love some advice. Has anyone else trained in this field? What kind of jobs are available in this line of work? would I be working in a private practice or are there jobs in the public sector? What type of pay can I expect?

Any info or advice would be much appreciated, thanks. :)

As far as I know there are very few full time jobs as play therapists. Most seem to work in private practice. If you already have a qualification in social care a qualification in play therapy may give you an advantage for a post as a project worker in a Family Resource Centre. I believe there is a salary scale on the HSE website for play specialists or play therapists but that doesn't mean that the HSE or Tusla will recruit for such a post. I seem to remember there were two courses available in Ireland and there was an issue about course recognition. Good luck

I've seen a few jobs on Activelink in the last few months for play therapists
