For me it has to be Charlie Day.

All of The Gang can be vile creatures but Charlie seems to have the most empathy about him. For me he's the funniest too.

Used to be Charlie but now Dennis, he's just a horrible human being and is completely deluded about himself with no redeeming qualities.

Ranking the characters is counterproductive to enjoying the show I find. Depending on the episode Dee could be the funniest or the McPoyles could come in and steal the show. I haven't really enjoyed the evolution of Mac's character though, I feel he used to be a lot funnier. When they do their splits I always found Mac and Charlie to have the most chemistry and then have Dennis berate Dee on the other end of the spectrum. But yeah, the good thing about the show is that there are no bad characters.

Franks facial expressions are priceless but Charlie gets my vote because he has a way of stealing a scene even when he's just a bit player in it.
But what about Dee, I love how she is not singled out as the only female there and treated differently, she is as funny if not funnier than the lads and she's not afraid to show it.

Im rewatching it at the moment and if the camera shot is on all of the gang I try to just keep my eye on Frank. Danny De Vito's decades and decades of experience shine through here

I'd say my favourite would be Dennis, but there really aren't any weak characters. In saying that I could live without Frank.

I would have probably said Dee is my least liked character, but then I watched a clip of her 'best bits' and some are absolutely brilliant!!

Mac for me is my favorite. I love the whole god loving gay bashing but yet he is clearly a homosexual. And of course his ninja skills are great.

In fairness they all contribute excellently to the show. No weak link in the cast.

I find any story involving both Charlie and Frank brings out the best in both their characters. Especially when there in the apartment together
