I'm not sure if you can go public/medical card there, but St. Edmondsbury in Lucan does residential alcohol treatment.

Will call Rutland.... Gave St. Edmondsbury a call they want 23,000k geez, no medical card/disability places... Called Rutland not accepting medical card/reduced fees for Alcohol Treatment, but accepting several medical card holders for drug problems

That's a bit of an oxymoron, considering some would regard alcohol as a potentially addictive substance/drug.

I think there is a place called Tabour Lodge in Cork which deals with alcohol addiction. I am not sure what way the funding works but I am sure they could advise you. They may also be able to tell you of other situable places. Good luck.

if you can find one that is not solely the AA model I would recommend that route from experience.

I'm pretty sure AA don't run any residential programmes.

Most treatment centres in Ireland are run based on the Minnesota model. This model makes AA attendance and following the AA program whilst attending compulsory.

Ps I was in two different treatment centres in Ireland both had this model.

White Oaks on Donegal/Derry border definitely 100% accept medical card holders free of charge.

Hope House Foxford Mayo. I don't know if they accept medical card now, but enquire with social services and St Vincent de Paul whether there is any way costs can be covered or contributed to. The person I know who went there did not have to pay at least nowhere near full whack anyways, but that was many many years ago.

Know people very personally who were in both and who definitely did not pay.
    Both great centres.

Talbot Grove in Castleisland, Co.Kerry is a residential treatment centre for those with addiction and other problems. Privately run but the fees are not exorbitant, around 5000 for a month long stay. The emphasis is on counselling and psychotherapy and involvement of family members of clients is also required.
    HSE West refer patients there.
