    Samsung BD-C6900 Blu-ray/DVD player 3D

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00365EVWO/
    Specs are here

It includes a built in wireless LAN and a 1 GB hard drive

That is such an unbelievable bargain that I'm a bit suspicious that it must be an error.

Looks like good deal, nice looking player, 1GB harddrive isn't much storage but wifi is nice extra and usb seems to support lots of formats

How did it work out that much?

Parcel Motel is only a fiver, so does £27 equate to €51?

and Parcel connect is only €4.50 , I don't have to top as much and and more importantly is within walking distance.

Anyway it's an upscaling DVD player with HDMI out :)
Also plays Blu-Ray and sorta turns a TV into a Smart TV, kinda
I can't see mention of a HDD only that it can play stuff shared on the local LAN

Looks like it may not support this DRM system http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cinavia

Oh, oh, oh interesting - if it's an early enough firmware and you don't update it then maybe you get some apps like DosBox and Quake and Remote Lan Control going :)

Look at the specs page under the built in hard drive heading :)

Hard drive is probably a bad description for the feature, they don't really make hard disks that small any more, it's 1gb of built in memory for downloading some extra content

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 289 ✭✭oodles19

So would 'Samsung Apps' include the likes of Netflix, RTE player, etc?

It was mentioned further up that it's a 5 year old model, so maybe they made them back then?

Looks like the firmware refers to the TV not the DVD
"This applications works only on Samsung B Series. Most of them (probably all Game category) can be use only on TV with firmwares from 2009 year (version number 2005 and older). Prefer to use on CI devices, but some off apps work with CI+ too."

why are people still buying dvd/blu ray/3d players?
    especially 5 year old models.

I got this email off them earlier
    Dear Buyer,
I am writing to you in reference to the recent order you have placed with us for the: BD-C6900 Blu-ray/DVD player 3D.
I would like to inform you that the item you have ordered has been incorrectly merged by Amazon for a different listing which was meant to be for a remote control for the Blu-ray player and not the Blu-ray player itself.
Amazon are currently investigating this matter and have advised us to contact the buyer for this item and ask you to cancel the order by the following steps:
‘click “Contact Seller” and then choose “Cancel Order” as the reason for contact (from the drop-down menu)’
Once this request has been received you will be refunded in full upon cancellation of the order.
Once again we would like to apologize for this matter and hope it does not resolve in any adverse feedback, as this was a matter which was out of our control, Amazon have assured us such issues will not occur again.
    Our apologies.
    Best Regards
    Cherrypickelectronics

Who ever heard of a remote control costing £27 ?

A better question is why do people always feel the need to post things like this whenever CDs or DVDs are discussed?

Is it difficult to think that people may have amassed a large collection of DVDs and Blu Rays through the years and may simply need a new player for them?

This isn't the electronics forum. It looked to be a great bargain.

Anything else is irrelevant. But just out of interest, where do you stream your 3D content?

Because it was cheaper than some discs , added some smart functions to a dumb TV

you can only fit twenty 25GB Blu-ray images on a 500GB HDD
it's getting close to the price of buying some second discs which are legit and have the physicalness about them and inlay cards and stuff

    isn't Vinyl outselling CD's or something ?
    people like tactile too

    ...

Remote for a SKY box. With 700,000 subscribers it's probably the most common remote in the country. Still charging €17.99 for the original 1998 model (but now has more TV codes) http://www.argos.ie/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Search?storeId=10152&catalogId=14551&langId=111&searchTerms=sky+remote&authToken=

Oddly enough one of the reasons I was interested in this box was that it might be possible to use a PC or Android to control it , so no fighting over remotes or loosing or breaking them.

Funnily enough, just seeing this thread reminded me - I actually have a Samsung 3D Smart wifi blu ray player that I found myself not using as much as I wanted to. If anyone wants it, its pretty much brand new in box with receipt, for 65 quid, plus the small PM fee, then give me a shout. I know ye missed out on this deal and that sucks. Model number is BDF6500 .. review here http://www.techradar.com/reviews/audio-visual/blu-ray-players/samsung-bd-f6500-1151295/review
