Jobseekers less means

    Hey guys,

I've been been through a lengthy battle with social welfare and am expecting to get my first jobseekers payment after about a 7 month wait since I first went in (I had to get appeals to overturn the initial decision)

Anyways, I just got a letter saying I'll be getting 188 less means. I had a standing order from my father to tie me over. This began before I applied as I was in college, and of little means, and was to stop when I received my JSA or full-time work. I'm fairly sure I made this clear to them when I was being means tested.

In any case now that i've gotten acknowledgement that i'll be getting JBA: the standing order has been stopped, its been docked from my weekly JBA, and most likely has been docked from whatever I will be backdated.

I know I can just inform them in the office that its been stopped so I can sort the weekly payments out. However, I don't know how I'll pay my father back. Which is really disheartening as I hadn't received a penny from SW for seven months and without the money he gave me I would have been destitute (or well I was destitute and rely on charity)

I was wondering really can he claim that money back since he essentially was shoring up social welfare while they dilly-dallied for 7 months?

    Thanks in advance,
    Mendoza
