Weird smell from hot water

We have a Worcester Bosch combi boiler. The hot water is fed from the attic tank (which has a lid) via a pump to service all hot water outlets.

Last week, we had the plumber come around to fix a leak at a downstairs radiator joint which caused the central heating pressure to drop. He fixed the joint, bled the radiators, re-filled the system and it has retained its pressure.

But coinciding with this, ever since, the hot water has been giving off a very strange smell. I don't think it's a sulphurous smell. Something more sweet, chemically and hard to define.

I'll get the plumber out, but my wife's worried and won't bathe our child in it.

Anyone know what this could be?

It seems the water coming out of the hot tap is bubbly, too. How/why would this happen? The plumber says it shouldn't be anything to do with the system, it must be coming from outside, but there's nothing wrong with the mains water.

No. It's clear, eventually. Actually, clear in the bath, but white/milky from the kitchen tap until it settles. One thought was that the filling loop valve wasn't fully closed so I tightened it just in case. I'm not sure if that's improved things, the cloudiness/bubbliness reduces in severity after the tap runs a while, the smell even subsides, but I wouldn't say it's entirely absent. Turn off the hot tap, run it a few minutes later and the odour is back, and the bubbles. I can't be sure if something smells slightly oily (our heating is gas fired).

Unfortunately and i have seen it is where the heat exchanger in the boiler perforates from heating side to hot water side and hence the symptoms your experiencing
Known fault with these junior systems

Hmm, better get the boiler checked by a qualified plumber. It's under warranty and not even a year old.

If it's under warranty then get it checked by worcestor Bosch directly
