    Heya guys,

I'm pretty tech stupid, but the price of stuff has me wanting to put together my own PC as it'll save money. (The usual story!)

I will be needing the PC for things like Protools and/or Cubase, and a bit of gaming (FFXIV, Starcraft etc). Where should I buy these things?!

I was thinking of stuff like:

Intel quad core processor, something like 3.4Ghz
    8GB Ram
    500GB HD would do
    1Gb Graphics card

Thanks for your help in advance guys! ðŸ˜

    1. What is your budget? [€700]

    2. What will be the main purpose of the computer? Gaming, watching 3D moveis

    3. Do you need a copy of Windows? Yes

    4. Can you use any parts from an old computer? No

    5. Do you need a monitor? No

    6. Do you need any of these peripherals? Yes (Keyboard, mouse)

I had done a bit of research on komplett.ie, and have identified these components. I'm just not sure if they will all work together:

    Case
    DVD / Blu Ray Drive.
    RAM 8GB
    ITB hard Drive
    120GB SSD
    Asus Motherboard
    AMD 4.1GHz Processor
    Graphics Card
    Power Supply

I work it out that all of the above would cost roughly €450. But would they work together (forgive my ignorance, i'm genuinely clueless when it comes to this, and this would be my first build)

    thanks guys

Thank you. Very interesting, all of this building. I'd imagine there is some serious satisfaction involved, when everything is put together, and the machine boots successfully for the first time!

Recommend you both source windows from reddit. About 20 euro.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,767 ✭✭✭SterlingArcher

Gerry that cpu wont fit on motherboard.

The cpu socket is fm2, the mobo you picked socket is am3.
Will do up a build now for both.

Seen this mentioned a few times and just curious, how can you get windows on reddit? What's the link between the two?

Gerry going from your template and budget of 700.

The graphics card in the komplete build is really weak. Don't know how much or what gaming you plan on doing. The Intel cpu is better. Can swap it out for amd one, an amd mobo, and a cheaper graphics card. Knock 200 off that build.

Nice work, have you similar advice for me please?! I'll love you forever :)

Switch you said you wanted a quad core. Intel one is going to break budget When you add a gpu.

    You can get an i3 . 100

Here is an amd build alternative

AMD FX-6300 Prozessor, build with an amd motherboard. same case, ram, psu, hdd will cost 351

The Intel i5 version of that same build 431.

Thats a rough one. How tight is budget.then need to add a graphics card.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 139 ✭✭Switchead

Well I'd like to obviously keep it as cheap as possible as Im broke, so its not all that flexible, maybe a €100 on top. I don't want to go too cheap and end up with a machine thats not great, youbknow what I mean? Im open to anything, Quad-core isn't essential, I don't really know what Im talking about alternative builds could be perfect lol. Sorry for being so vague :(

I actually get what you mean. I edited above Post to give you a clearer idea. I'd rather get you on the Intel but that is not essential at all. Will still be good machine.

Both them prices are without a graphics card. For that I need to know what gaming exactly.

Fx 6300 is ok for some games. Especially on a budget.
Save the money annd get a stronger gpu as alot of games are gpu limited.

Or get a cheap ontel chip and upgrade it in 6-12 months
