I have a Stoves range style electric cooker. It's 8yrs old and has a crack across the glass hob with about a year. A few months back both induction rings stopped working and now both normal ring will reach boiling point but won't reduce.
Anyhow my question is...is it best to replace the cooker and go for a new one? Am I expected to pay a new few quid otherwise ?

I would advise that it is uneconomical to repair it.

as regards the overheating the problem is the with the energy regulators, not too expensive to replace, with the cracked hob you can claim off your house insurance towards the cost of a replacement hob as the cooker is a fixed installation, you will need a quotation from an engineer to proceed with the claim
