Family Membership

Hi, I'm a member of a club in Dublin and now that I'm in my mid/late 20's I'm moving from the young adult membership to full membership bracket. The current club I'm in is fine, it's close to home and has decent practice facilities. However I'm just not sure it's worth the 1200e or 1300e a year that I'm gonna have to pay.

My father-in-law is a member of a very good club (always in the top 20 in the Golf Digest top 100 every year) and is looking at getting me in under family membership which will hopefully negate the need for the joining fee. What I'm wondering is does your club offer family membership for father-in-law/son-in-law or is this a bit hopeful?

You might have to take your wife's name... But for a Top 20 course I would :)

I think everything is negotiable with most courses these days.
