I am wondering if anyone can help me in relation to becoming a child psychologist in Ireland? I am wondering what route is needed to be taken as in what course.

I would be grateful for any help

    Lyn

A child psychologist is usually a clinical psychologist who has specialised in Children and Adolescents.

There is a stickied thread on How to Become a Counsellor/Psychologist/Psychotherapist you might find useful, as well as the Introduce Yourself thread.

I don't think there's a specific route, as such. Whenever you see a 'child psychologist' in the media they tend to be a little older, have experience under their belt and are from a clinical or other background. You probably need to train in whatever area that interests in general and then hope to specialise through experience, research or working on particular teams. I'm guessing.
