Replacing my Type R..

    Hey folks,

Shifted the Type R at the weekend. Very emotional :(:(

Looking for a replacement, but first the reasons for moving on...

    1) Need a 5 door
    2) Very thirsty
    3) Advanced mileage
    4) High Road tax.
    5) Very low bucket seats

So, I'm looking for definitely something with some welly - hopefully fuel efficient too (I want my cake and eating it) and very sporty.

The new Focus ST diesel "might" (at a huge push on money) be a runner - but there isn't one around to test drive at the mo so that's an issue a few Ford dealerships are looking into.

    Any thoughts?

MkVII Golf GTi, they are actually cheaper and quicker than the GTD version so unless your doing the extra miles to warrant the diesel it would be hard to justify paying more for the GTD. Will be an easier transition from the Type R too.

Seat Leon FR is worth looking at too.

I was more referring to the price than anything else.

New Type R? Decent economy and 5 door.

Doesn't appear that it will be out for a while yet :(

Will they even bother bringing it to Ireland?

Good question - they stopped bringing the Type R in here because of the emissions tax :(

But by god, does it knock the socks of anything else lookswise - absolutely gorgeous!

FD2R? Although it kind of ties in with the reasons why you sold your last one (presuming it was an FN2) But more practical/more space/quicker car/rarer which tends to reflect in price of them
